Award Description: The MGA student award committee invites graduate students from degree granting programs in Maryland with a focus on older adults to submit a description of a completed project that demonstrates innovative approaches to service delivery care which support older people at home, in the community or in institutional care. Two monetary rewards up to $1,000.00 each will be given to those selected. The recipients will be expected to attend the MGA annual conference June 22, 2011 with faculty mentor, present the project in poster format throughout the conference and receive the award during the conference.

Student Awards Committee:
The MGA Student Awards Committee functions once a year to solicit, collect, and evaluate abstracts submitted by eligible graduate students in gerontology or a related field/track for consideration for a monetary prize to be announced at the MGA annual Spring Conference. This committee consists of a Chairperson and 4 to 5 members of the Board, and other invited members (if any).
The functions of the MGA Student Awards Committee include:
- Development of the criteria and time frame for disseminating information about the annual competition at the MGA website and via e-blasts to the MGA membership (typically during January of each year)
- Review of submitted abstracts and determination (selection) of award-winning abstract(s)
- Presentation of award(s) at annual MGA Spring Conference
